Prayer of Dedication

Father, thank you for today. Thank you for the breath in our lungs, the gift of another day, and the blessings you have given us. While we pray that our lives would be lived in worship, we set aside time now for the distinct purpose of praising you. Thank you that you are God, you are sovereign, you are holy, and that you love us. We thank you and praise you

Amen.

Call to Worship*

“Praise the Lord.
I will extol the Lord with all my heart
in the council of the upright and in the assembly.
Great are the works of the Lord;
they are pondered by all who delight in them.
Glorious and majestic are his deeds,
and his righteousness endures forever.
He has caused his wonders to be remembered;
the Lord is gracious and compassionate.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;
all who follow his precepts have good understanding.
To him belongs eternal praise” (Psalm 111:1–4, 10).

Worship in Song

Let’s take time now to listen to these songs of praise, noticing together the powerful, Scripture-soaked truths therein (click the Play button to listen).

Joyful, Joyful We Adore You

“My lips will shout for joy when I sing praise to you” (Psalm 71:23a).

Holy, Holy, Holy

I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. And they were calling to one another: ‘Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory’” (Isaiah 6:1–3).

Who You Say I Am

“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed” (John 8:36).

Wonderful, Merciful Saviour

“I will exalt you, my God the King; I will praise your name for ever and ever. Every day I will praise you and extol your name for ever and ever” (Psalm 145:1–2).

Pastoral Prayer

Father God, we thank you for the truths contained in that song: that you sent your Son Jesus as the wonderful, merciful savior. We are broken, sinful human beings who would have no hope for eternity if not for that gift of grace. Thank you that Jesus came and lived a perfect life, died on the cross on our behalf, and rose to life defeating sin and death so that by believing in him, we can have eternal life. It is a gift that we don’t deserve and we could never earn on our own. Thank you.

Lord, we confess now the times that we have taken your mercy for granted. When we have allowed the lure and temptation of sin to sway us away from the holiness and obedience you ask of us. We confess and repent, trusting that you are faithful and just to forgive us. We pray that, through the power of your Holy Spirit, you would give help us to grow more like Christ and to say no to temptation.

God, as we turn now to your word, we pray that you would speak through your servant Lew to convey the incredible truths of this passage of scripture. Use it as you see fit to encourage us, rebuke us, correct us, and shape us. We pray that we would leave this time challenged and engaged, and ready to apply it practically in our own lives.

Thank you for who you are and the love you have shown us.

Amen.

Worship in Giving

Even in these trying times, we are reminded of the commands in the New Testament to give generously, sacrificially, and with joy. Giving is still available online or via e-transfer (see eService email for details).

“Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work” (2 Corinthians 9:6–8).

Song of Response

Yet Not I But Through Christ In Me

“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me (Galatians 2:20).

Benediction

“Finally, brothers and sisters, rejoice! Strive for full restoration, encourage one another, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you. May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all” (2 Corinthians 13:12, 14).
