Prayer of Dedication

Father, we thank you for this day. We thank you for the gift of prayer, that we can reach out and speak with you, a holy God, and trust that you hear us. So now we do just that: we call out to you with our prayers, our burdens, our fears, our discouragement, our praises, our thanksgivings, and anything else, and we lay them at the foot of your throne of grace. Would the time we take now, dedicated to worshipping you in prayer, giving, song, and teaching, be edifying for us. Use it to grow us in sanctification and shape us more into the image of your Son Jesus.

Call to Worship*

I will exalt you, my God the King;
I will praise your name for ever and ever.
Every day I will praise you
and extol your name for ever and ever.
My mouth will speak in praise of the Lord.
Let every creature praise his holy name
for ever and ever” (Psalm 145:1–2, 21).

Worship in Song

Let’s take time now to listen to these songs of praise, noticing together the powerful, Scripture-soaked truths therein (click the Play button to listen).

You Are Holy

“Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom (Psalm 145:3).

We Will Glorify

“I will praise you, Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever (Psalm 86:12).

My Jesus I Love Thee

“We love because he first loved us” (1 John 4:19).

O Praise the Name

“Let the name of the Lord be praised, both now and forevermore” (Psalm 113:2).

Pastoral Prayer

Father, we praise you because you are deserving of our worship. You are perfect and good and sovereign and so we say “Praise the Lord!” We thank you for the freedom we have to worship you even publicly, and we pray now for those around the world who do not have that freedom. Protect them, strengthen them, and encourage them, Father God.

Lord, in this world of darkness it can seem as though sin and temptation is constantly knocking at the door. We pray for the strength, through the power of your Spirit, to deny our temptations, to say no to our sin, and to pursue holiness. We repent now of the times that we have been unsuccessful in that fight, and have given in to temptation. We ask your forgiveness, believing that you are faithful and just to forgive us. However, that forgiveness is possible only because of the sacrifice of Jesus, who lived the perfect life, died a sinner’s death on our behalf, raised victoriously from the grave, and ascended to heaven to your right side. We thank you for that act of love, of Jesus coming to earth so that we can spend eternity with you through faith in Him.

God, it is clear that there is a lot of division in our world. There is controversy, anger, debate, and disdain that all threatens to break us apart. But we thank you God, that what unites is us far stronger than anything that the enemy would use to divide, and that is the power of your Holy Spirit within us. Would we continue to grow closer to one another as we grow closer to you in this time. Would you use our church community to encourage us and strengthen us and motivate us as we run the race of discipleship. We thank you that we are part of your family, and that you love us as the perfect Father.

And it’s in the name of your Son Jesus and through the power of your Holy Spirit we pray.

Worship in Giving

Even in these trying times, we are reminded of the commands in the New Testament to give generously, sacrificially, and with joy. Giving is still available online or via e-transfer (see eService email for details).

“Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work” (2 Corinthians 9:6–8).

Song of Response

Yet Not I But Through Christ In Me

“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me (Galatians 2:20).

“To him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy—to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen” (Jude 24–25).
