Prayer of Dedication

Let’s pray.

Father in heaven, we worship you, for you are holy. Today we pray that you will fill us with a spirit of awe and wonder at your beauty and perfection. We pray for humility as we approach your throne of grace. God, would we be inspired by your Word, and the words of these songs, and the words spoken by your servant Josiah, and would you use all of this to help us grow in our pursuit of holiness. We worship you, for you are Holy.

Amen.

Call to Worship*

“I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart;
I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.
I will be glad and rejoice in you;
I will sing the praises of your name, O Most High” (Psalm 9:1–2).

Worship in Song

Let’s take time now to listen to these songs of praise, noticing together the powerful, Scripture-soaked truths therein (click the Play button to listen).

Great Are You Lord

“Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord” (Psalm 150:6).

Crown Him (Majesty)

“Sing praises to God, sing praises; sing praises to our King, sing praises. For God is the King of all the earth; sing to him a psalm of praise. God reigns over the nations; God is seated on his holy throne” (Psalm 47:6–8).

Your Great Name

“Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:9–11).

Come, O Sinner

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus” (Romans 3:23–24).

Pastoral Prayer

Father, we acknowledge the truth in the song we just listened to together: we are sinners in need of forgiveness. We thank you that you have promised to forgive us when we confess and repent, and so we take time to do that now.

Lord, continue to give us wisdom as we navigate our lives in the coming days and weeks, time that is right now filled with uncertainty and anticipation. Help us to be good demonstrators of respectful submission to authority, and demonstrators of self-control. Give us patience and trust as we navigate constantly changing news reports and confusing life situations.

We take time now to pray for those who are waiting on medical testing, screening, and procedures that have been deemed non-essential. We pray for health and healing, for medical wisdom, and that their time for treatment will come soon. We pray for those dealing with job loss, identity crisis, mental illness, and other such situations that have been introduced by these trying times. We pray that they will find their strength and their identity and their provision in you. Would your Spirit empower your children to be people of courage and comfort, kindness and love, peace and confidence.

God, as we approach now the teaching of your Word, we pray once again that you would prepare us to receive the truth that the divine Author intended. Would you use your Word to mold us, shape us, encourage us, rebuke us, and challenge us. We pray that we would leave this time with clear application on our heart and mind, and the strength of your Spirit to take action. We thank you for your Word and the ability we have to read it, be taught from it, and be transformed by it.

Amen.

Worship in Giving

Even in these trying times, we are reminded of the commands in the New Testament to give generously, sacrificially, and with joy. Giving is still available online or via e-transfer (see eService email for details).

“Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work” (2 Corinthians 9:6–8).

Song of Response

Give Us Clean Hands

“Who may ascend the mountain of the Lord? Who may stand in his holy place? The one who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not trust in an idol or swear by a false god” (Psalm 24:3–4).

Benediction

“To him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy—to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen” (Jude 24–25).
