Below is an abridged update from the Wahab family, servants of the Lord at Camp Good News in Florida and an extension of our Oakridge church family.
Camp Good News update
Dear Faithful Friends, I hope this update finds you well.
I wanted to give you an update on the week-long Spring Break camp at Camp Good News. We invited all prior campers to come for a free fun day to end their spring break. By Friday, we had 63 children attending, and we are excited to share that four boys made a decision to surrender their lives to Jesus Christ and follow Him. We are thrilled to see the impact that camp ministry is having in the lives of these children.
We have included some pictures of the adventures that the children had during Spring Break camp. It was an amazing time and we are so grateful to the counselors, the cooks, and all who helped make it possible. Here is the link.
We also wanted to let you know about some upcoming events at Camp Good News. We have a work morning party this Saturday, April 1st at 9:00 am (and no, that date is not a joke) =). We will be working on various projects, including completing the low ropes course, installing screening on the Maple Lodge porch, gathering lake weed, possibly some tile work, painting projects and some spring cleaning. Lunch will be provided, and we would love for you to come and join in with serving and fellowship!
As the Bible says in Philippians 2:4, “Let each of you look not only to his own interests but also to the interests of others.” We hope you will join us in serving others and making a difference in their lives.
Another important date to mark on your calendar is Saturday, May 20th, 2023, when we will be having a Dedication Celebration for the Grand Opening of Magnolia Cottage and an Open house at camp from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm. Lunch will be provided, and we encourage you to bring friends and family to try out the new Low Ropes course or slide down our 300-footLiving Water slide! Mark your calendars. =)
Finally, in preparation for summer camp, we have just released our latest Discipleship Leadership Program brochure. A copy is provided below and you are welcome to pass it along particularly if you know of a teenager that has an interest in growing their faith and being challenged this summer. We are launching a Counsellor in Training program (CIT) for 13-year-olds this year as well as making improvements to our Discipleship Leadership Program (DLP) that was first launched last year. We have witnessed firsthand the impact these programs make as we invest in the next generation and point them to our Lord.
We hope to see you soon!
Phil, Stephanie, and Family
By job title, Alice is the office administrator at Oakridge. But her behind-the-scenes efforts go far beyond that! She is actively involved in the leadership team for the Tuesday evening women's bible study, she is on the mission committee, and she has recently both stepped into the leadership of church bridal and baby shower celebrations, and started teaching in our Ozone kids program. Oh, and if you see any special seasonal or holiday decorations around the church, it's a safe bet that Alice was involved!
