An ancient parable tells of a group of blind men describing an elephant to one another based on the part of the animal they themselves were handling. Feeling its trunk one calls out, “It’s like a thick snake!” Another, leaning on the animals’ side, disagrees: “It’s like wall!” Still another, holding the elephant’s tusk, claims, “No, it’s like a spear!”
Many today suppose knowing God is a similar endeavour; that we’re all groping about in the dark trying our best to understand something to which we have limited access. However, Christianity adds a game-changing detail: The Elephant can speak! The Bible is God’s self-revelation and in its pages he communicates with us what he’s like, what he wants, and how he works. We aren’t left blindly guessing! And, because he graciously speaks, we can know him, not fully, but truly as the glorious God he is.

Josiah has served the Oakridge Bible Chapel family as one of its elders and one of its pastoral staff members since September 2018, before which he ministered as an associate pastor to a local congregation in the Canadian prairies. Josiah's desire is to be used by God to help equip the church for ministry, both while gathered (edification) and while scattered (evangelization). He is married to Patricia, and together they have five children—Jonah, Henry, Nathaniel, Josephine, and Benjamin.
