Adventures at Camp Good News (Summer 2025)

Dear Friends, Family, and Prayer Partners:

We give thanks to the Lord for another incredible summer at Camp Good News! Over nine weeks of camp, we witnessed many children come to faith in Christ, and many more were challenged to deepen their walk with Him. Through the Discipleship Leadership Program (DLP), 32 counsellors and 5 Counsellors-In-Training faithfully served, with three making professions of faith themselves.

God’s Word went out in power each week, and lives were changed for eternity!

Highlights of Summer Camp

  • Professions of faith: 24 children and several counsellors made first-time decisions for Christ this summer.
  • Campers reached: More than 120 unique children came through our gates.
  • Themed weeks: Favourites included Water Wonderland, Archery in Focus, Journey Off the Map, and The Amazing G-Race.
  • Church ministry: Counsellors led worship and shared testimonies at nearly a dozen local churches, encouraging congregations with stories of God’s faithfulness.

Challenges Faced

This season brought its share of trials:

  • Two major septic system failures and a dock relocation demanded long hours and unexpected expense.
  • Our faithful bus driver, Cynthia, was sidelined after being diagnosed with brain tumours—but God quickly provided Paul and, later, Tom to step in and meet this vital need.
  • Illness and fatigue swept through both campers and staff, reminding us to lean daily on God’s strength.

Thanksgiving

We rejoice in God’s abundant provision through:

  • Faithful counsellors and volunteers who served tirelessly.
  • New kitchen help through Caresse—an answer to prayer!
  • Grants and gifts that enabled vital camp improvements.
  • The countless prayers of His people—your prayers sustain us more than you know!

Prayer Needs & Outlook

As we transition into fall ministry, please join us in prayer:

  • Good News Clubs are beginning again at Shell Elementary.
  • Online Discipleship Program (2025–26) launch for our helpers begins first Thursday in October.
  • Provision of an additional CDL bus driver and summer cooks for 2026.
  • Wisdom as we prepare for the coming season of storms and repairs.

“This is the Lord’s doing; it is marvellous in our eyes” (Psalm 118:23).
“Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labour is not in vain” (1 Corinthians 15:58).

Thank you for standing with us in prayer, encouragement, and support. We look forward with anticipation to all God will do in the months ahead through Camp Good News.

With grateful hearts in Christ,
Phil & Stephanie, Michael, Christina, Joy and Joanna Wahab
