OAKRIDGE BIBLE CHAPEL

Brian and Sally’s Prayer Report

Below is a September 2024 prayer update sent to the Oakridge Bible Chapel family from Brian and Sally Seim, missionaries who serve the Lord with SIM Canada as an extension of OBC’s gospel ministry.

Thank you for your intercession.

  • As August ends, Sally and I are planning ESL lessons for the first half of the year and touching base with associates and students as they return from China, Korea, and India. Our students prefer to stay in the same class because they enjoy their friends (and they say, their teachers). I am sure that others will join us too. Please pray that our lives and relationships will give windows of our relationship with Christ.
  • I tutored one of the Chinese ESL students this summer who initially took her children to Quebec and spent two years learning French. Moving here, she is learning English. The same vowels in the two languages sound different. I used poetry to develop her language skills, one of which was Psalm 23. She read it four weeks ago and asked several questions about it. As she left, I prayed for the Spirit to draw her to Christ. Today on the final, I asked her to choose two poems to read. Her last poem was Psalm 23. She began, The Lord is My Shepherd. She emphasised every personal pronoun and when finished, looked up with glistening eyes, nodded and smiled.
  • My PhD supervisors’ thoughts on my thesis calls for more work. Currently, I am refining theory from my ‘theology’ chapter to build my arguments in other sections of my writing and developing the thesis into the preferred manuscript form.
  • In addition to healing, sleeping and therapy for my new hip, I am rebuilding core body strength, balance, and learning how to walk straight. I’m getting there but please pray.
  • I requested prayer for a missionary from India to Canada. You prayed for a Hindu man he worked with, “…who loves to do occult worship and claims to have mysterious powers, but they haven’t worked.” This has developed into somewhat of a problem similar to what happened in the book of Acts as spiritists began to see a business stream and wanted to mis-use Jesus’ obvious power. Yet the man is also showing interest in Jesus and sorrow for his sin. Please pray that Mr. K will come to faith in Jesus.

Thank you, and continuing in His Service,

Brian & Sally Seim

By job title, Alice is the office administrator at Oakridge. But her behind-the-scenes efforts go far beyond that! She is actively involved in the leadership team for the Tuesday evening women's bible study, she is on the mission committee, and she has recently both stepped into the leadership of church bridal and baby shower celebrations, and started teaching in our Ozone kids program. Oh, and if you see any special seasonal or holiday decorations around the church, it's a safe bet that Alice was involved!
