Below is a December 2025 prayer update sent to the Oakridge Bible Chapel family from Brian and Sally Seim, missionaries who serve the Lord with SIM Canada as an extension of OBC’s gospel ministry.
Hello, friends! Below are a few matters for prayer
- Christmas at ESL (Dec. 11): Christmas is not a cultural celebration for Chinese. It is a religious celebration for only a few of them. We introduce it carefully, talk about it openly (without pressure), separate out the secular themes from the spiritual and depend on the Holy Spirit to interpret. Please join us in prayer, that we are able to make the message clear and the blessing joyous: The King has visited us.
- Pray for the ministry being developed in Hamilton among South Asians
One of the husbands was baptized last month and seems to be very sincere
Winter is often difficult for newcomers. They face:- Spiritual oppression as many are coming from different religions
- Financial tension as seasonal jobs are often not available over Christmas
- Family pressure as the wife often becomes Christian first
- Please pray especially for their Christmas outreach Sunday, the 21st. Entire families come to their South Asian feast. Much gospel-groundwork is done for the following year.
- Regarding my PhD, it seems that I am revising ‘til the cows fly home’. This is for the published version, and all participants want to make it a truly valuable book. Once I’m done with revisions, I begin to meet weekly with my editor (December 6—February 15).
- Graduation is on June 12 in Oxford. You have been part of this whole thing and are invited (if you would like) to join us:
Oxford Centre for Mission Studies
St Philip and St James Church
Woodstock Road, Oxford OX2 6HR
Blessings,
Brian and Sally Seim
