Below is a October 2024 prayer update sent to the Oakridge Bible Chapel family from Brian and Sally Seim, missionaries who serve the Lord with SIM Canada as an extension of OBC’s gospel ministry.
September has been slow, healing, working on theory development, and reconnecting with my supervisors. Still, progress is happening on these fronts, and we approach October with His peace.
- Our ESL classes are a joy. The students are excited to be back together. Our classes increase their ability to enjoy Canada and develop their social network here. Conversations include faith, peace, parenting, and travel. Please pray that we are sensitive to the Spirit’s prompting and their lives.
- I am up to week eleven with my new hip. I often walk without a cane, but as Christopher Robin in Winnie the Pooh says, “I’m a little wobbly”. Next week, I go in for a checkup. I increase in energy every week, but I have a long way to go.
- My PhD thesis has a long, hard finish ahead of it. It must be submitted to OCMS by July 15, 2025. I have two sets of revisions to accomplish and a key definition to develop in this first round. I do need His help.
- October 1–4 will be our SIM Canada Field retreat. A note from the current director said 55 missionaries will be gathering nationwide. At Guelph Bible Conference Grounds, we often met there between 2000–2020, times of memories and new hopes. Please pray that it will restore and refresh.

By job title, Alice is the office administrator at Oakridge. But her behind-the-scenes efforts go far beyond that! She is actively involved in the leadership team for the Tuesday evening women's bible study, she is on the mission committee, and she has recently both stepped into the leadership of church bridal and baby shower celebrations, and started teaching in our Ozone kids program. Oh, and if you see any special seasonal or holiday decorations around the church, it's a safe bet that Alice was involved!
