OAKRIDGE BIBLE CHAPEL

Brian and Sally’s Prayer Report

Below is a prayer update sent to the Oakridge Bible Chapel family from Brian and Sally Seim, missionaries who serve the Lord with SIM Canada as an extension of OBC’s gospel ministry.

October Updates

On October 28, Brian will do a seminar at the Southern Ontario Cooperative of ESL Ministries.

On November 18, from 1–4pm EST will be the Share the Light Conference (sorry for my mistake on the web address last month but I was encouraged that so many of you looked it up!). For those interested, there is still time to register for this online conference.

  • The topics will include panel discussions on international student ministry (445,000 new international student in Canada in 2022), refugee ministry in Canada (428,000 in 2022), and senior newcomers (sometimes abused, always lonely, and how do we minister to them?).
  • There will be a three-hour workshop on developing an ESL program for your church.
  • There will be expert speakers on intercultural ministry programming for churches, mental health considerations in immigration, and fifty ways to minister to newcomers.
  • Please pray that I and my co-director will have the energy and memory for the details still needing done

Our ESL classes have grown in the last month. Both Sally and Brian are also spending time with some students on individual and spiritual levels.

My thesis progress was slower this month because of ministry involvement. However, the Literature Review is just about completed, and I will begin the final edit in about a week.

I fell while out walking in March and seem to have messed up my lower back/hip areas. The pain is getting worse, but some doctors are checking it out on October 25 and 31.

Please pray that Christ is glorified in these efforts.

By job title, Alice is the office administrator at Oakridge. But her behind-the-scenes efforts go far beyond that! She is actively involved in the leadership team for the Tuesday evening women's bible study, she is on the mission committee, and she has recently both stepped into the leadership of church bridal and baby shower celebrations, and started teaching in our Ozone kids program. Oh, and if you see any special seasonal or holiday decorations around the church, it's a safe bet that Alice was involved!
