The life of a farmer is one that demands long hours of work, expensive equipment, and expertise. And yet, in spite of their resourcefulness and skill, grit and wisdom, every farmer ultimately owes their success to the fact that it rains. As prepared, skilled, and experienced as they may be, unless the skies open, there will be no yield.
The Christian life is not that dissimilar. Just as a farmer is dependent on rain so the disciple is dependant on God’s power. When we put our trust in anything other than God, it is like a farmer expecting his tractor to cause crop growth during a drought. It is senseless and futile! Instead, the Bible calls us to be a people who follow Christ with total dependence, releasing our grip on the things in our lives in which we may be tempted to trust instead of him.

Josiah has served the Oakridge Bible Chapel family as one of its elders and one of its pastoral staff members since September 2018, before which he ministered as an associate pastor to a local congregation in the Canadian prairies. Josiah's desire is to be used by God to help equip the church for ministry, both while gathered (edification) and while scattered (evangelization). He is married to Patricia, and together they have five children—Jonah, Henry, Nathaniel, Josephine, and Benjamin.
