Watch and Learn: This Woman Gets It! (Mark 14:1–11)

One of the most effective ways to improve any skill set is to spend time with people who demonstrate mastery over that desired ability. We may call them coaches, mentors, role models, or heroes. Through observation and then mimicking their expertise, we are invited to improve. The Christian life is no exception. Providentially, God has provided many godly role models in the pages of Scripture. And when the Bible holds an individual up as an exemplar of faithfulness, those of us who desire to mature in that same virtue must to take note. In the 14th chapter of his gospel, Mark highlights such a woman and invites us to enter into a brief apprenticeship with her. Through her example, we too may learn how to more faithfully follow Jesus.

Josiah has served the Oakridge Bible Chapel family as one of its elders and one of its pastoral staff members since September 2018, before which he ministered as an associate pastor to a local congregation in the Canadian prairies. Josiah's desire is to be used by God to help equip the church for ministry, both while gathered (edification) and while scattered (evangelization). He is married to Patricia, and together they have five children—Jonah, Henry, Nathaniel, Josephine, and Benjamin.
