Below is a January 2026 prayer update sent to the Oakridge Bible Chapel family from Brian and Sally Seim, missionaries who serve the Lord with SIM Canada as an extension of OBC’s gospel ministry.
Good morning, I am looking out over my (very) snowy backyard. There seems to be more coming down as I write.
Over the next few months, the theme is hospitality. Sally and I will be, or have already received, guests from South Africa, China, Vancouver, and Michigan. In addition, I will enjoy hospitality in Phoenix and Oxford. Hospitality is a blessing, an opportunity to entertain angels unaware, and an anticipated characteristic of Christian life. Please pray that we reflect the God who has become hospitable toward mankind in offering his salvation.
In addition:
- Our ESL classes continue. This is a busy time for those who maintain the Lunar calendar (in China, Korea, and much of East Asia), as their New Year’s falls on February 17 (and lasts 16 days). Students travel back and forth to their homes and families. Our classes (each of which are a little community) are smaller. The children that our mothers are here to care for must fit Canadian school schedules into the mix. Please pray that in their ‘busy time, God will speak to them, perhaps redefine hospitality in their lives.
- Things are wrapping up on the thesis editing, with the final material to be presented to me on February 13. My academic supervisor has me doing one other project that is also (I believe) almost complete. Please pray for these objectives and their timing. I was just looking over the 6 revisions that I have completed since September 10, when I defended my thesis, and noting that the quality of work has improved with your prayer input. Thank you, and Praise the Lord.
Blessings to you,
Brian and Sally
