There’s a reason that Paul so often uses the analogy of running a race when talking about our spiritual journeys, and that’s at least in part because it’s an illustration that is easy for everyone to understand and relate to. We all know what it is to face hurdles and to struggle on the course in front of us. We know what it is to have goals and a finish line that we are aiming for. Today, Stephen Hawkins joins the podcast to discuss his recent sermon on this very topic.

Stephen is a long-time missionary with and representative for Operation Mobilization, an organization that seeks to encourage and equip God's people to "share the knowledge of Jesus and his love with every generation in every nation." In that role, he has been privileged to labour for Christ in many countries, in many contexts, with many groups, and in many languages. When home in Canada, Stephen is actively involved in local church ministry and theological education, and serves as an Elder at Oakridge.

Andrew is the Associate Pastor at Oakridge Bible Chapel. He grew up in a Christian home, and spent time serving in churches of varying sizes and denominations before landing at Oakridge with his wife in 2017. He likes to verbally process theological issues he finds challenging and is always ready to learn something new. He has a passion for teaching the Bible, and seeking to explain confusing passages in a clear way, preferably with a good illustration or two.
